Wrapping My Head Around Corn

According to the first website I clicked on when I typed "five largest agricultural companies," Commodity HQ, the top five global agriculture stocks (ranked by market cap) are:
  • Monsanto ($48.5 billion)
  • Potash Corp. ($37.9 billion)
  • Syngenta ($33.7 billion)
  • Deere & Company ($32.5 billion)
  • Archer Daniels Midland ($17.8 billion)
According to the Statistics Portal, the United States produces 351 million metric tons (a metric ton is 2,204 lbs. as opposed to our ton, which is 2,000 lbs.) of corn annual, followed by China, with 218.5 million, and Brazil, with 79.5 million.

Iowacorn.com tells me that for the past two decades, the State of Iowa has produced the largest corn crop of any state. Fun Fact: Iowa produces three times as much corn as Mexico. The three primary markets for corn? Ethanol, exports, and livestock.

I wanted to get a visual for what all that corn might look like. Spent an hour combing through YouTube video. Didn't REALLY find what I was looking for, but these two give you the flavor: Corn, nothing but corn, everywhere corn:
